Giants at Washington score: Live updates, game stats, highlights, TV, live stream for NFC East showdown - CBSSports.com

The Washington Football Team looks to get back to their winning ways on Thursday night, as they play host to the NFC East rival New York Giants. Both teams lost their season openers on Sunday, but a win over a divisional opponent on a short week could jump-start the season for whoever comes away victorious tonight.

All eyes will be on the quarterbacks in this matchup. With Ryan Fitzpatrick out for the foreseeable future with a hip injury, in steps Taylor Heinicke -- whom Washington is very confident in. On the other side is third-year quarterback Daniel Jones, who has been tasked with proving he's the right candidate to escort this franchise into the future. Incredibly, Jones has won all four of his starts against Washington while he has gone 4-19 against all other teams. "Danny Dimes" has to feel confident facing off against a familiar opponent, but his first Landover loss is very possible due to Washington's stingy defense.

Follow along in the live blog below, as we will break down all the action as it happens. This could be a fun defensive matchup! Strap in.

Terrible sequence by New York. They were driving down the field extremely well, but a penalty and sack on third down now have them possibly out of field goal range.

Welcome back, Saquon! That must feel good for Giants fans and fantasy football owners.

JORDAN! How about that run.

Saquon -- over 43.5.

New York reshuffled its offensive line tonight with Gates moving from center to left guard. Now, they'll need to adjust on the fly with Gates suffering this severe leg injury.

Cart coming out of Nick Gates. The NFL Network broadcast says they won't even show the injury.

From NBC Sports Washington at the stadium. Not good news.

Bad throw there by Jones, imo. Barkley had a defender ready to light him up if he caught that pass. Not putting your star player (who is recovering from a torn ACL) in a position to succeed. Throw it away and live to fight another down.

Washington struggling on third down. Back-to-back drives where Heinicke is left scrambling as he tries to move the chains. Giants doing a strong job applying pressure.

Two straight three-and-outs for Washington. They have -3 total yards on six plays.

Wouldn't this be nice

I watched that roughing the passer three times now. So what was Young supposed to do?

11 plays, 79 yards and Daniel Jones leads the Giants to six. Pretty great drive for him. 4/4, 45 yards and 23 rushing yards including the TD. Statement drive.

Daniel Jones very quickly goes over his rushing yard prop of 20.5

Roughing the passer penalty flag came out about an hour after the play. That is wild

Chase Young makes his first significant play of the year -- roughing the passer. I don't get that call, but it's the rule.

No huddle and quick strikes from the Giants offense. Jones has completed his first two passes with ease as a result.

Good way to neutralize the Washington pass rush.

That may have been the easiest sack Azeez Ojulari will ever make. Two career sacks in two games. Not a bad start for the rookie.

Ooooh

Jordan I did a $2 Same-game Parlay. Washington win, Gibson anytime TD, Barkley anytime TD.
