The Illini aim to knock the Wolverines off their perch ahead of The Game next week
No. 3 Michigan is dominating Illinois in the box score through a quarter of action but leads only 7-0 as they enter the second quarter. The Wolverines received the opening kickoff and set the tone immediately with Blake Corum making one cut and taking off for a 39-yard gain on the first snap of the game. The Wolverines would eventually cash in, marching 75 yards in seven plays to take a 7-0 lead.
Since then, the Wolverines defense has smothered the Illini offense. The Michigan offense, meanwhiel, has continued to move the ball but has failed to put more points on the board. Corum had another big play on a screen pass to get Michigan into Illinois territory on its second possession, but the Wolverines punted, as they would on their third possession, too.
Michigan has outgained Illinois 147 to 22, and the Illini only have one first down -- yet it's a one-score game. Will this come back to bite the Wolverines? Stick with us for the final three quarters. CBS Sports will be with you the entire way breaking down the game with scores, analysis, updates and highlights from Illinois at Michigan.

Blake Corum to the locker room with injury
He's clutching his left knee after being tackled. Looks like his leg may have been hyperextended as he was hit along the sideline. He immediately grabbed at it, but he's now walking to the locker room on his own, which is a good sign.

MICHIGAN FUMBLE
The unintended consequence of the Corum injury? He fumbled on the play. The injury caused him to loose control of the football early, and after review, the officials ruled it a fumble with an Illinois recovery. Potentially huge swing in this game, as Michigan was in the red zone.

Illinois has to settle for a FG, but it didn't want to
The Illini came out of the timeout with their offense on 4th and 1 but a false start backed them up five yards. They settled for the FG after that. It's a 10-play, 59 yard drive to make it a 7-3 game.

Illini call timeout ahead of 4th and 1
Illinois has a 4th and 1 at the UM 6 and is contemplating going for it. It's only 7-0, but if you're a 17-point underdog on the road, settling for field goals will help you cover the spread, but aren't gonna do much to win the game. I'd go for it. We'll see what Bret Bielema chooses.

Michigan goes 3 and out for the first time today
The Wolverines got the stop on 4th down and then decided to commit a bunch of penalties. They go 3 & out and punt, and Illinois is already in Michigan territory.

Michigan stops Illinois on 4th down
The Illini put together their best possession of the game, driving 44 yards in 10 plays and getting into Michigan territory, but Chase Brown is stopped short on a 4th and 1 at the UM 36. It's a turnover on downs for the Illini. The decision to go for it was an obvious one. Attempting a 53-yard FG into the wind wouldn't have been wise, and the way Michigan has moved the ball, playing the field position game probably won't work in Illinois' favor over the long run. Michigan just made a play.

Another 3 and out for Illinois
The Illinois offensive line is a finalist for the Joe Moore Award that goes to the nation's best OL, but it's not off to a good start today. The Illini have managed only 12 yards on their first 6 plays from scrimmage, and the line isn't getting much push. Michigan gets the ball back at the UM 37 following a punt.

Michigan gets out of its end zone but ends up punting
Another big play to Blake Corum -- this time on a screen pass -- gets the Wolverines into Illinois territory but the Illini defense stuffs Corum after that, leading to a 19-yard Michigan punt. Illinois will begin its second possession of the afternoon at its 19.

Illinois goes 3 & out
Not the start the Illini were looking for, as Chase Brown is stuffed on 1st down, and Tommy DeVito's 3rd and 2 pass falls incomplete. The good news for Illinois is a 64-yard punt pins Michigan at the UM 3.

An impressive opening drive for Michigan
The first play of scrimmage was a 39-yard run from Blake Corum in which he started left, cut back right and found an ocean of space. It set the tone for how the drive went, as it finished with Corum scoring from two yards out to cap a 7-play, 75-yard drive. Corum rushed for 44 yards on 4 carries while JJ McCarthy completed all 3 of his pass attempts for 31 yards. It's 7-0 Wolverines.
