How can you tell someone is into you?

It’s a question Australian radio host Jana Hocking has been asking herself in recent years.

The singleton, who often writes about dating, decided to do some research on the topic.

She spotted a website by British Matchmaking Agency called Seventy Thirty – and it’s given her a great insight into body language.

In her latest news.com.au column, Jana outlined some of the signs she looks for in men she dates.

Here are the indicators to keep an eye out for – from touching to feet pointing.

Jana looked into body language so she could interpret dates better

Blushing

This is the most obvious sign someone’s into you.

Jana explained: “It turns out there is a very saucy reason behind the flush.

“It’s an involuntary and obvious signal that their body is very attracted to you.

“In fact, it is trying to mimic an orgasm.”

Jana says blushing and regular touching are often positive signs

Touching

Even innocent touching can point to attraction.

Keep a look out for singletons who pat your arms or brush against you while they’re chatting away.

Jana added: “If someone finds an excuse to touch you during a conversation, this is a definite sign they are into you.

“Touching releases chemicals in the brain that make people feel good.”

First date nerves could be a sign of interest or sexual tension

Fidgeting

Is there a nervous energy in the air?

If someone has jitters, they’re more likely to care about the outcome of the date.

Jana said: “When we catch the feels for someone, they make us nervous and our heart beats rapidly.

“To calm those feelings, we tend to try and find distractions with our hands or move our legs to get rid of some pent-up energy.”

Jana recommends checking to see if your date is turned towards or away from you

Feet pointing

How is your date sitting compared to you?

If they’re facing away, they’re more likely to be disengaged.

But those who point their feet towards you are showing positive body language.

It implies their focus is completely on you.

Mirroring

Are you in sync with your date?

If you are, there’s positive signs they’re into you.

Jana said: “If your date is trying to establish a connection with you, they will mirror your actions.

“It can extend to your posture, tone of voice and talking pace.

“A simple check is by leaning into them and seeing if they follow suit.”
