UFC 259 goes down Saturday night from the UFC APEX in Las Vegas. The loaded card is headlined by a trio of championship fights, with middleweight champion Israel Adesanya's bid to become a two-division champion when he challenges light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz in the main event.

Amanda Nunes makes her return to the Octagon in the co-main event as the two-division champion looks to defend her 145-pound title against rising contender Megan Anderson. Nunes has fought just once in the last 15 months due to minor injuries, COVID-19 protocols and the birth of her first child. Plus, the first title tilt to kick off the action will see bantamweight champ Petr Yan look to make his first defense of the 135-pound strap against top challenger Aljamain Sterling.

Round 1: Nunes lands a stiff right hook early after checking a leg kick from Anderson, sending an early message. 

Now we move on to the second of our three championship bouts of the night as Amanda Nunes defends her 145-pound title against Megan Anderson.

The fight has been waived off. Aljamain Sterling will win the title by disqualification.

Sterling is down on the ground, trying to recover from the blatant foul by the champion. If Sterling doesn't continue, he will win the title by disqualification.

Sterling landed a couple big head kicks and with Sterling keeping his knee on the ground, Yan uncorked a blatantly illegal knee to the face.

Yan, switching to southpaw, landed a heavy straight left hand and backed Sterling off. Yan avoided some flashy offense from Sterling and then drilled a heavy kick to the challenger's ribs. Yan's lead hand started doign heavy work, seeming to buzz Sterling as they landed more and more frequently. Yan connected big with a knee and then a one-two combination.

Bantamweight Championship -- Petr Yan (c) vs. Aljamain Sterling -- Round 4: Sterling started with a heavy head kick, but Yan blocked it and then swept Sterling's legs to put him on his back again. Sterling landed an uppercut, but Yan responded with two big punches. Sterling pushed forward, landing a good combination that included some digging shots to the body.

Sterling appeared to be tiring, missing more and more with takedown and strike attempts while Yan continued to come on strong to the end of the round. Unofficial scorecard: 10-9 Yan (29-28 Yan)

Sterling threw a flurry of punches but Yan continued to land before a nice trip takedown. Yan walked away, again allowing Sterling to stand and then cracking with a hard right hand. Sterling failed on a takedown attempt and then pushed into the cage again looking to put Yan down. Yan again threw Sterling down with a trip and then stood over him landing kicks to the legs before walking away.

Bantamweight Championship -- Petr Yan (c) vs. Aljamain Sterling -- Round 3: Sterling opened the round with a kick to the body and a trio of jabs. A right hand landed for Sterling. Yan charged forward with a good hook and a knee. Yan landed another sharp right hand as Sterling tried to continue firing the jab.

Sterling continued pressing against the cage, trying to get a single-leg takedown, but just taking short punches from Yan. Yan landed a knee and Sterling had to back off. Yan landed a good right hand and Sterling pushed in with heavy strikes again before Yan had the back and swept Sterling's feet. Sterling stood up easily and the round came to a close. Unofficial scorecard: 10-9 Yan (19-19)

Sterling slipped going for the takedown again, but continued to try to take Yan to the mat. Sterling briefly took Yan's back, but Yan was able to spin out and Sterling pushed forward with punches and locked up for another takedown attempt again.

Bantamweight Championship -- Petr Yan (c) vs. Aljamain Sterling -- Round 2: Sterling opened with a knee and a flurry of strikes. Sterling slipped on a leg kick, ending up on his back with Yan standing over him until the champ backed off and allowed Sterling to stand back up. Sterling dug to the body with two punches before trying for a takedown. 

Yan took the back standing and executed a slam, but Sterling reversed to end up on top. A very good opening round. Unofficial scorecard: 10-9 Sterling

Yan dropped Sterling with a low kick, catching him as his balance was off. Sterling used a scissor takedown, ending up on bottom, but content to try to attack before Yan was able to stand back up.

Sterling used a flurry of punches to secure a takedown but Yan got back to his feet, eating a heavy knee to the body in the process. Yan took the back standing but Sterling slid away. Yan dropped Sterling with a straight right hand. Sterling got back to his feet but was clearly rocked by the shot.

Sterling threw a flying knee, leg kick and a heavy jab. Yan finally landed a heavy body kick of his own before Sterling went right back to the pressure. Yan caught a kick and swept Sterling's other leg to send him to the canvas, but backed off, allowing Sterling to get back to his feet. Sterling landed another flying knee but failed to get the takedown after.

Bantamweight Championship -- Petr Yan (c) vs. Aljamain Sterling -- Round 1: Sterling charged forward and threw a body kick before missing a leg kick. Sterling landed to the body again and threw side kicks to the legs, putting heavy pressure on from the jump. Sterling showed takedown early but backed off.
