Armagh's McCambridge nominated for Footballer of the Year

Armagh defender Barry McCambridge has been nominated for the GAA's Footballer of the Year along with Galway duo Paul Conroy and John Maher.

McCambridge was a key player for the Orchard County as they lifted the Sam Maguire, beating Galway in the final in July.

Oisin Conaty, who scored 0-3 in the final is nominated for Young Player of the Year alongside Galway’s Johnny McGrath and Donegal’s Ciaran Moore.

McCambridge and Conaty are two of 11 Armagh players put forward for an All-Star award after their first All-Ireland triumph since 2002.

Defenders Aaron McKay, Aidan Forker, Paddy Burns, Niall Grimley, Ben Crealey Rian O’Neill, Conor Turbitt and Rory Grugan complete their nominations.

Three Ulster representatives are nominated for goalkeeper with Armagh's Blaine Hughes, Donegal's Shaun Patton and Tyrone's Niall Morgan selected.

Patton's Donegal teammates Peadar Mogan, Ryan McHugh, Caolan McGonigle, Brendan McCole, Michael Langan and Oisin Gallen have also been nominated after they won the Ulster Championship in Jim McGuinness's first season back at the helm.

Tyrone's breakout star Darragh Canavan is also on the 45-player shortlist.
