Food prices in first monthly fall for two years

The rate of inflation remained steady in September, ending a run of three consecutive monthly falls.

Prices increased by 6.7% in the year to September, official figures show, the same as in August.

Fuel prices rose sharply during the month, but food price inflation continued to slow.

It comes after figures on Tuesday showed wages outpaced inflation in June-August for the first time in nearly two years.
