The Loughgall player who was allegedly racially abused by a Linfield supporter has said he "can't believe" the incident happened.

Pablo Andrade was speaking a week after it was reported that he received abuse from a Blues supporter following his goal for the Villagers in an Irish Premiership match at Windsor Park.

Linfield have once again said they are taking the matter seriously, while adding that they are continuing their internal investigation into the incident.

"At the time when it happened I was more about celebrating the goal," Andrade told BBC Sport NI.

"But then, after the game we were talking about it and that is when it really clicked in, that a supporter would say that in front of other kids and adults.

"At the time it didn't really affect me too much, but after the game when I stopped to think about it, I can't believe he said that."

Andrade was speaking after playing for Loughgall in their 5-2 league victory over Ballymena United at Lakeview Park on Saturday.

"Not really, no," Andrade said when asked if he had received racist abuse before.

"I didn't expect it to happen at Windsor, on a big stage against Linfield, a massive club.

"It wasn't really what I was planning to hear during a game but, listen, it was only one person.

"The majority of the league, I haven't had an issue. I don't care about the swearing and the banter, I love banter but whenever you take it to that step too far, that is when you have to stop and think 'what action can we take to stop this?'"

When originally contacted about the issue on Monday, a Linfield spokesperson said: "An internal investigation into the incident is underway.

"We do not tolerate racism and have never had racism at Linfield before. We have a very good relationship with Loughgall and will be working with them to look into the incident."

When contacted again on Saturday evening, Linfield said their investigation is ongoing and that they continue to take the matter seriously.

Andrade said he has received a lot of support from his club and team-mates since the alleged incident, and that the support has been appreciated.

"It's been a bit of a crazy week, to be honest," he continued.

"I got so many messages, the club has been really helpful in checking on my wellbeing. All of my team-mates have been texting to check how I am keeping and I really appreciate all their efforts just to make sure I am alright."

Andrade's goal against Linfield last week brought his side level just before the break, but the Blues went on to win the match 5-1 with four goals after the break.

It is understood that one of Andrade's team-mates informed the referee's assistant about the alleged abuse from the South Stand, where Linfield supporters are housed, and that it was then reported to referee Steven Gregg.

"Now, though, I am not too bad," Andrade added.

"My team-mates helped me and the club have been keeping up with me, and I appreciate that. I am really thankful that they have helped me get through this."
