Wales captain Angharad James has signed a two-year contract extension to stay at Seattle Reign.

The 31-year-old will continue to play alongside Wales' most-capped player Jess Fishlock, who has played for Seattle since 2013, until 2027.

James' commitment comes following her return from Euro 2025 where she led Wales at their first major tournament.

"I couldn't be happier to continue my journey in Seattle," said James.

"This club and this city have truly made it feel like home. I've grown so much here over the past two seasons, both on and off the pitch, and I'm excited to keep building with this incredible group."

Reign general manager Lesle Gallimore said they were "thrilled to welcome Haz back".

He added: "As captain of Wales, she brings steady leadership, composure, and experience – qualities that add invaluable consistency to our midfield. Haz is the kind of player every club wants, and we're lucky to have her."

James moved to Seattle from Tottenham Hotspur for the start of the 2024 campaign along with Wales team-mate Lilly Woodham.

Woodham joined Liverpool after leaving Reign earlier this week.
