Five jockeys missed their rides on day three of Glorious Goodwood after their plane was forced to make an emergency landing.

The flight, from Bagby Airfield in north Yorkshire, suffered what is thought to be an engine problem but jockeys Rowan Scott, Callum Rodriguez, PJ McDonald, Tom Eaves and Jack Garritty are all fine.

Scott was booked on two rides at Goodwood, including Magellan Cloud for John and Sean Quinn in the first race.

Sean Quinn, joint-trainer of Magellan Cloud, said he had spoken to Scott, adding: "They took off and while they were up in the air something happened and the pilot had to do an emergency landing.

"I don't think they were up in the air for very long and thankfully the pilot turned around, landed them back in Bagby and they're all safe. I think they're relieved to be back on the ground and it could have been nasty."

Magellan Cloud was instead partnered by Saffie Osborne, while replacements were also sourced for the other jockeys' scheduled rides.
