Everton celebrate after Aurora Galli scoresEverton collected their first point since beating Liverpool in the Merseyside derby last month

Aurora Galli's late penalty rescued a draw for Everton despite a dominant performance by Women's Super League in-form side Tottenham.

Galli converted past Rebecca Spencer after Heather Payne was knocked to the ground inside the Spurs box.

Tottenham had gone in front after Grace Clinton nodded a deep Drew Spence cross past Courtney Brosnan in the first half.

But Brosnan's goalkeeping performance stopped Spurs extending their advantage, and the visitors managed to salvage a point.

Her heroics also prevented former Toffees player Clinton from finding the back of the net in the second half with a quick save after a goalmouth scramble.

Everton's Katja Snoeijs squandered an early chance when she directed a free header into the ground inside the six-yard box.

The draw means Tottenham, who had won three consecutive matches before Sunday, are third in the WSL and miss out on a chance to advance to second.

Everton are ninth after collecting just their fourth point of the season.
