Scotland men maintained their 100% record at the top of the round-robin table after beating Sweden 11-4 at the European Curling Championships in Finland.

Bruce Mouat's world champions had earlier secured a place in the semi-finals by beating Poland 7-2.

The Scots were level at 4-4 with former world champion Niklas Edin's Swedes after four ends, but three singles then a four at the eighth secured victory with two ends to spare.

Mouat's rink conclude the round robin against Joel Retornaz's Italy, who sit second with six wins and two losses, on Thursday.

Yannick Schwaller's world silver medallists from Switzerland also have six wins after beating the Italians 9-8, but the Swedes and Marc Muskatewitz's German rink could also still qualify for the last four.

In the women's event, Scotland secured their fourth win, against Norway, but sit sixth going into their final game against Sara Messenzehl's Germany with only an outside chance of qualifying for the semi-finals.

Skipped by Sophie Jackson, they picked up four unanswered points over the first three ends against Marianne Roervik's rink and finished strongly to see out a 8-5 victory.

Ranked second in this event, the Scots have also beaten Lithuania, Denmark and the Czech Republic, but losses to Turkey, Sweden, Italy and Switzerland mean they are requiring favours from other rinks to make the final four.

With Anna Hasselborg's Swedes already qualified with seven wins, Denmark, Norway and Switzerland are all on five wins, one ahead of the Scots.
