Glentoran captain Jess Foy says her team "know what's at stake" as they chase a record fifth Challenge Cup victory in a row on Saturday night.

The Premiership champions face a Cliftonville side hungry for revenge having fallen short in their league title defence.

Whilst surprised at their cup dominance, the Glentoran defender is determined to make history.

"We really want to push on and hopefully win five in a row," said Foy.

"The first couple of years we were in the cup final I think it almost took us by surprise that we were able to retain it.

"But from last season we've really had it as one of our goals to make the final and retain the trophy.

"Each year the competition is getting harder and harder and we know what's at stake when we're playing a team like Cliftonville."

Glentoran have built up an impressive run on the way to their 12th Challenge Cup final appearance, beating Larne, Lisburn and a stubborn Sion swifts along the way.

Kim Turner's side also have an opportunity to add to their record 10 victories in the competition first contested back in 2005.

The east Belfast club are yet to even concede a goal in the campaign, a feat that Foy admits the side "take a little bit of pride in".

"As a defender, we set that as one of our goals at the start of the season that we are going to minimise the amount of goals that oppositions score," she added.

"But ultimately we have to outscore the other team, so we will be relying on our forward players to hopefully do the business.

"We know that [Cliftonville] are a fantastic team, we've played them twice in the league and we haven't been able to get the better of each other, they have got fantastic forwards, so we know it's going to be a tough game.

"I think it will be a fantastic display of women's football in general and the amount of fans and young girls that come out to support us, it really does give you an extra wee boost on the pitch."

Jess Foy of Glentoran with the Women's Premiership trophyFoy led Glentoran to their record 10th Women's Premiership title this season.

Cliftonville, Challenge Cup winners in 2015, have it all to do if they are to end the reign of Glentoran who have been a thorn in their side all season in the Women's Premiership.

The Reds have brushed aside Linfield, Ballymena United and Lisburn Rangers on their way to Saturday's final at Windsor Park.

Having already got their hands on the County Antrim Cup and League Cup this campaign, the the north-Belfast side will feel they need a third trophy to soften the blow of a second-place league finish to their high-flying rivals Glentoran.

The sides drew 2-2 at Solitude earlier in the season before another 1-1 draw at Ashfield in the reverse fixture.

"Obviously it was hard, everyone was disappointed but this is a different focus," midfielder Vicky Carleton said on missing out on the league.

"This is the last one and it's the big one, so if we win this we go into next season, into pre-season even, still on a high.

"I think our attacking threat is probably something they don't come across often until they play us.

"I think we have the best attackers in this whole league, even throughout our whole squad, there's goals coming from everywhere."
