Conor Coady came through the Liverpool academy and made two senior appearances for the Anfield club
Wrexham have signed centre-back Conor Coady from Championship rivals Leicester City for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £2m.
The 32-year-old England defender has signed a two-year contract, with the option of an additional year.
Signing Coady is another major statement of intent from Wrexham, who are preparing for their first season back in the second tier for 43 years.
They have already broken their club transfer record twice this summer, first for Empoli left-back Liberato Cacace and then for Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O'Brien.
Wrexham are likely to smash it again as they are in talks over an ambitious £7.5m move for Wales and Ipswich Town forward Nathan Broadhead.
They also hope to complete the signing of another Wales international, striker Kieffer Moore, from Sheffield United.
"I'm over the moon. It's a special day, I'll be honest," said Coady.
"We've all seen what the club has done over the past few years and for me to join is really special and I can't wait to meet the boys and get started."
Coady has made 198 Premier League appearances and captained the Wolves team who twice finished seventh and reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
He also has 10 caps for England and was part of their squad for Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson said: "We're delighted to welcome Conor to the club. He's a player who has experience in the Premier League and Championship and will be a great addition to the squad."
